Japanese Maple Study

Medium: Chalk pastels on tinted paper, 18X24 inches.
Original: Not available

As the result of a large windstorm, lots of branches came down. I found this beautiful Japanese maple branch just laying there
in the street, so I took it home, put it in a pot with some stones to prop it up, and dusted off my long-neglected chalk pastels.

This was meant to be a quick, loose study (thus why some of the leaves look 'unfinished'), and mostly an exercise in
drawing from life. I'm out of practice, but I'm sure I'll find plenty more fun objects to draw and paint!
