Tigerlily Nectarbird
Bibinectarium lilium
This bird, one of the smallest of the nectarbirds, makes up for its lack of size with its brazen courage
and vibrant plumage.
It can be quite aggressive and very protective of the lilies on which it feeds. Though unconfirmed, there have
been reports of gardeners attempting to cut a few tigerlilies for a vase and being terribly bitten by one of these little birds.
Other nectarbirds tend to avoid this loud bird, including the shy Lilac Nectarbird and the larger Foxglove Nectarbird.
